Fondest greetings, dear friend.
My name is Helen and I bid you a warm welcome to my little web nook, where I attempt to immortalize memories of everyday adventures, particularly the beauty of all that I love and appreciate, including adventures with my sweet family, all things vintage, crafty creations, tasty encounters, globe-gallivanting, interior decorating, event planning, and, most importantly, Jesus Christ.
I married the love of my life on March 10th, 2012, and this blog’s name is a tribute to the acronym of our names, Alex & Helen, since the theme of our wedding was AH, that’s love. We were blessed with a little love named Serene Joy and a littler love named Valor Zeal. I am a stay-at-home mama who used to work in education nonprofit. Before that, I was an 8th and 10th grade English teacher. It was within my classroom where I was daily humbled and amazed by my students who worked so incredibly hard to succeed and conquer the manifold barriers that society and their situations have placed before them. My students inspired me never to stop advocating for their future impact on the world, so I completed a Master’s degree in Urban Education with a concentration in Policy and Administration before transitioning into the world of education non-profit. Before teaching, I worked as an executive assistant at one of the Big Six entertainment studios in Los Angeles upon graduating from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) with Bachelor’s degrees in Mass Communication and Sociology. Stay-at-home mamahood has been the best job thus far, for it is one where I feel I am fulfilling my calling. I also do event planning and wedding coordinating on the side. My husband is a pastor, and we spend much of our time with our church family, to whom we are committed in order to love one another and to love others in our community and, hopefully, one day, to the ends of the earth.
Although so much in life gives me joy, nothing grants me as much joy as knowing my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I am a sinner saved by grace since 2005, and God is at the center of my life, which I hope you shall ascertain as you peruse my blog. Jesus Christ is my cause for His is the one eternal. I've found and continue to find everyday that true joy, peace, and hope in every circumstance comes from God, who, in His unparalleled mercy, humbly gave His life on the cross for sinners like me so that we might live to enjoy and love God in all facets of life because He loved us first. I am daily floored by this greatest act of sacrificial love that, by His grace alone, sets the precedence for my responsive desire to live a life that honors Him and shares with the world this very good news.
All in all, thank you so much for taking time to stop by and browse around, dear friend. My hope as you read this little blog is that you would see Christ in these everyday circumstances of life - the lovely, the messy, and God's grace that shines through it all. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email me.
