A good day
Today is a grand reminder of the greatest act of love in history. Thank you, Lord, for your death on the cross that grants forgiveness of sins. I'll never know how much it cost to see my sin upon that cross, but thank you for showing me glimpses of your goodness through the gospel. Thank you for the freedom in You. Thank you for your daily kindness that I do not deserve. Thank you for the life I have in you, for my dear husband, my lovely family and church family, and so much more that I am allowed to enjoy that is not feasible without Christ's work upon the cross. Happy Good Friday, lovely chums!

At the shore this time of year
The weather was too peachy keen not to vacation at sea during our anniversary getaway in Santa Barbara. What a blessing to enjoy the beach in the middle of March! We were in close proximity to the beaming sun, the cerulean shoreline, the fresh seafood, and the rentable surreys, so we partook in all the snazziness. I had never ridden a surrey until that afternoon. I was so giddy attempting to steer the rather clumsy contraption down the bike trail, yelping at every rocky maneuver, that the husband laughed and said, "Wow, your parents never took you to do something like this when you were little, huh?"

Where it's breezy and warm
We landed on Santa Barbara as our anniversary destination, where the weather was insanely beautiful throughout the weekend, where the Spanish architecture gleamed in the sunlight, and where our brunch was made even more swell by street musicians playing live jazz. We hadn't been there together before, so it was so luxuriating to relax in the easygoing resort town. We felt so spoiled, and so thoroughly blessed by God's goodness in our lives.

"We're very Danish here."
We ventured up north along the Pacific coast to a land of sunny fields during the first leg of our anniversary trip. When we arrived at the charming Danish community of Solvang, we asked a local what made the little town special. "We're very Danish here," she replied curtly. I've yet to visit its original counterpart across the sea, but Solvang was a captivating taste of Danish culture. I could hardly pause from snapping pictures of the insanely quaint architecture, with their colored trims, thatched roofs, and brazen windmills. Sweet and quirky artwork that bespoke of Danish history adorned the walls, and were often framed by colorful flora. We spent the beautifully sun-graced day moseying about and admiring the creativity around us, eating lunch at a tasty cafe al fresco, and stopping by the Hans Christian Andersen Museum to poke around, too. It was so legit, especially because I loved reading his fairy tales growing up. Though we were only a bit more than two hours from home, the sweet little enclave felt like another world - perfect for a weekend getaway.
