Dressed up

We don't dress Serene up much. If Alex could have his way, she'd be in her footed pajamas all day long. After all, with spontaneous drool, spit-up, and poop explosions, it seems sensible to err on the more practical side of clothing choices. But when we do manage to put a frock on her, especially when it is a vintage one we snagged at the flea market last summertide for only a buckaroo, I attempt to document it before the aforementioned excretory surprises make it into the picture. These snapshots were captured this Sunday past, the day of the week when Serene is customarily the dressiest, for that is when we spend the majority of the day with our church family learning to know and love the Lord more. Alex preaches every other Sunday, and when he does, Serene is ever so calm when listening to his voice over the speakers as we sit in the cry room with the other mamas and their wee ones. She is always thoroughly thrilled to see him after service, too. Actually, she is legitimately glad to beam at anyone who will heap tons of attention on her. Hoping this is a precursor to her fondness for the local church. We are blessed to be surrounded by such sweet community, and we pray that as Serene grows up, she ascertains the love of Christ through the gift of the local church.
