Alex and I commemorated two sweet years of wedded merriment this past Monday with a brief respite by the sea. We opted not to travel too far since it would be our inaugural family getaway with Serene. It turned out to be a most wonderful jaunt over two and a half days less than an hour away from home. We stayed here, where they surprised us with heaps of hospitality upon discovering that it was our second anniversary: an upgraded room with breathtaking views of the ocean, a fireplace, and a full-sized kitchen; complimentary valet; wine delivered to our door as a gift; and a hand-signed card from everyone at the front desk. We were thoroughly floored by their kindness!

I had been brainstorming on how to surprise Alex with teeny tokens of appreciation, and settled upon a scavenger hunt in our hotel room. It worked out that I forgot my camera in the car the night before, so I asked Alex to fetch it the next morning. While he was doing so, I hid all the clues in the room's nooks and crannies. It was so funny watching Alex attempt to figure out where the next clues were hidden; he admitted that scavenger hunts do not cultivate his natural talents. The clues were penned on envelopes that eventually led him to his gift hidden behind a certain Serene Joy - an accordian-style poem with spaces for corresponding Instax photos that were within the envelopes.

God is really so kind to bless me with such an amazingly sacrificial and patient husband in Alex. I'm often humbled by his abounding love for me and Serene, the church, and others, which stems from his love and submission to the Lord. These past two years in covenant with one another have been so sweet, and I am ever grateful for more to come!
