Packing the voyaging satchels

vintage suitcases
This weekend past was a doozy, and I am cramming more than a week's worth of to-dos in today because starting tomorrow, I shall be departing for the East Coast for a work conference in Newark. The husband shall join me afterward as we meander Manhattan and its surrounding burroughs, along with calling upon Baltimore over the weeked in the company of some of our dearest friends. I have never been to Newark or Baltimore, and would truly appreciate some recommendations on must-dos and must-eats. It's been nearly three years since I last moseyed through New York; all I ever happen to do when I'm in the much-favored cosmopolitan hotspot is eat a ton, scour the flea markets, and watch musicals, so feel free to chime in with New York-related suggestions, too. All in all, I am ajitter with anticipation for this impending jolly holiday, and shall check back in on this little blog upon our return. Toodles, cheery chums.

  2. Safe travels and have a great time! I grew up in Jersey but not familiar with Newark! But in NY oh there are so many possibilities! Alice's Tea Cup and Donut Plant. Norma's! And last summer my husband and I took a quick road trip to Baltimore and just strolled around the harbor and saw stunt people and local artists perform on the streets. There is also an aquarium - we didn't get a chance to check it out but i heard good things about it! Hoep you enjoy!

  6. Baltimore has one of the best aquariums in the world! Something less expensive but still awesome is the American Visionary Art Museum. You will not see any other museum like this (I also think it was rated in the top 10 art museums in the country by the NY Times). Also, check out Edgar Allen Poe's tombstone near the University of Maryland Law School! Maybe drop a bottle of cognac while you're there. Oh and obviously buy some crabcakes. Because it's Maryland and you have to.

I went to Baltimore last February and wrote about it here (in case you want pictures to prove how fantastic these places are)... http://iamgladtothebrinkoffear.blogspot.com/search/label/baltimore
