Water-friendly

At 9 weeks, Serene is revealing to us how very fond of bathtime she is through her frequent smiles and varied coos, from the moment we change her out of her clothes and diaper, to when we lather warm sudsy water on her in her little tub that fits in the bathroom sink, to when Alex breaks out in song to entertain her as we clean her, to when we dry her in a fluffy towel, dress her, and get her ready for bed. Alex is particularly pleased about our water baby and is nursing dreams of raising a daughter who revels in the sea as he does. And because I don't know how to swim, I'll be one of those mamas by the poolside or shore, cheering them on and snapping photos. Until then, we'll enjoy this nighttime routine, which has become one of our most favored times of day.
