Her ear piercing foray
It's rather common for little gal babes to get their ears pierced early on around here. My ears were pierced when I was a month old, so taking Serene to get her ears pierced has been on the agenda ever since she turned two months old. It finally happened last weekend, and the photos above chronologically sum up her ear piercing foray. She was thoroughly captivated by the jewelry store's environs the whole time we were prepping her ears. Once the ear piercing gun went off on her right earlobe, it took a couple of seconds for the pain to sink in until she let out a hearty holler. Before she could process what had transpired, her left earlobe got pierced. Her face flushed burgundy and she uttered an ear-piercing scream of greater magnitude.
Alex opted out of coming along for the adventure for the same reason he'd rather not be present when Serene gets her bimonthly vaccines at the doctor's - he didn't want to witness her affliction. Dear friends accompanied us instead for moral support. Serene had a fan club surrounding her, rooting her on. One of our friends' four-year-old daughter patted Serene's leg and said, "Don't wowwy, baby Sewene. I got my ears piewced too, and it only huwt a wittle."
Seems like Serene would agree, for her agonized cries lasted just a few seconds before she calmed down, forgot all about what had just occurred, and went back to being her gurgly, giggly self. I suppose that if she ever ponders later on what it felt like to get those snazzy studs in her ears, she can always look back on these pictures that immortalized the experience. ;)
