Birthday bacon and other treats

Alex turned twenty-eight one week ago today. Besides his birthduation party the week beforehand, we had plans to spend the day at Disneyland, but that got postponed. It ended up working out well since we would be leaving for a road trip up north for the next six days, and we hadn't begun packing or prepping at all. We spent most of last Tuesday doing just that at home, with a couple surprise birthday treats sprinkled in throughout the day. I tried to make a bacon-centered breakfast to look like 28; when I told him, he laughed and said, "Oh, I was going to say - that is an ugly face."  He also got a homemade chocolate chip cookie cake. Alex's simple birthday requests were to grub on burgers for lunch and steak for dinner, so we did so that day at his favorite restaurants with family. Food (and books) make his heart happy!
