Alex and I laughed as we looked through these apple-picking pictures from a few weeks ago because pictures can be so deceiving. We hadn't gone apple-picking since before we had kids (well, we tried going last year, but the season had already ended), so we thought it'd be fun to do so this year. We underestimated the extent that overtired babes, a two-hour one-way drive, and a cranky mama could permeate an outing with stress (and sin on my part). When we finally arrived at the orchard, none of us were in the cheeriest mood to pick apples anymore, but we tried to make the most of it, documenting the outing with forced smiles. And then laughing about it afterward.

Such is life with two little loves. Alex and I tend to have grandiose plans to accomplish this and that, but we continue to learn the kids can only handle so much at their age. We had such a busy few weeks leading up to the trip that we all simply needed to rest. Thankfully, we have next year (or the next) to try apple picking again, Lord willing.
