Summer was a whirlwind for Alex and me. In the midst of it, Serene learned to read, Valor learned to embrace the pool, and Reverie learned to walk. We had one last hurrah in San Diego last week to bid summer farewell, squeezing in a much-needed vacation before Serene starts kindergarten with a homeschooling co-op tomorrow. I used to proclaim vacations with kids are but trips. However, I was pleasantly surprised with this trip, as all the kids seemed to acclimate quite well to new surroundings. It probably helped that they got to play at the beach and pool ad nauseum, eat Fruit Loops for breakfast, and watch TV. Their effervescent joy was contagious, which made Alex and me anticipate future adventures with renewed interest and strength. Thankful for quality family time, and ready for a new school year.
