Heartfelt lines for my love's birthday
The Mister ushered in his 26th year this Sunday past, so he received a trio of heartfelt lines to commemorate his birthday. I sewed felt hearts in a disheveled fashion onto little notes that contained homonyms (which I think are marvelous), and bequeathed each unto my love with an accompanying treat. The first comprised of a celebratory birthday pancake sundae drizzled with decadent chocolate hazelnut sauce, a generous dollop of creamy vanilla ice cream, multicolored sprinkles, and a Rainier cherry on top.
We didn't have hot fudge in the house, but my love is nuts about Nutella, and we've a wealth of the chocolate hazelnut spread, so I combined equal parts Nutella and lowfat milk, and whisked it until warmed and velvety smooth in a saucepan over low heat. It was a remarkably delicious substitute for hot fudge.
Pastoring is indeed a work of heart, so my love received something to cultivate his heart. I have witnessed the Mister grow in his love for the Lord and for the people He has placed in our lives, especially our church family and the community in which we live. I am daily encouraged by my love's leadership not only in our marriage, but also in his ministry. He shepherds my heart everyday and leads me to love the Lord evermore. I am so thankful to the Lord for blessing me with a wonderful godly man. The Mister is indubitably my greatest source of encouragement outside of Jesus. Life has been much sweeter with him, and I love him to pieces!
In reference to the last of the heartfelt lines, the Mister is a hardcore meat enthusiast, so we had bougie steak and prime rib here for a beatific birthday date. After all, all he wanted for his birthday was to eat steak and watch Les Misérables. Yes, friendly fellows, the time has come to announce that the Mister is now a bona fide fan of musical theater, and that Les Mis is his top pick. He's been itching to catch a show so much that he spent the past week poring over Phantom of the Opera, Mary Poppins, Lion King, and Les Mis videos on YouTube. In fact, we watched Les Mis' 25th anniversary in concert on DVD via our projector for date night last week at his insistence. So you can bet the Mister was wholly gratified to watch Les Misérables in Costa Mesa this weekend past, because, as he proclaims, Jean Valjean is his favorite character outside of Jesus. What can I say? I am a happy gal. Les Mis is one of my favorite musicals too, and the Mister is my favorite human being outside of Jesus!
