Breakfast on the weekdays usually consists of toaster waffles sandwiched together in our hands as we're rushing out of the house, so when we have Saturday mornings together, we take advantage of sleeping in and spicing it up with brunch at home. However, it was a treat to grab brunch at this lovely cafe the other weekend whilst running some errands in the area (and ending the jaunt at a favorite thrift store!). Our rule of thumb when eating out for brunch is to order things I don't make at home. The husband naturally selects manly steak and eggs, while I have been opting for variations of Eggs Florentine. The Alaskan Benedict I ordered was so legit that I feel inspired to try making it at home, but I am feeling intimidated by the careful orchestration it requires - a perfectly toasted English muffin, a just-right poached egg, a delicately seasoned crab cake, and a warm, creamy, smooth Hollandaise sauce. They're so tasty though that I do want to try it sometime. Do feel free to share any amazing eggs benedict recipes and tips!

  3. That brunch looks amazing! I love making big breakfasts at home, but it's my favorite to go out and eat; Makes an ordinary meal feel extra special, right?

  4. yes, it's always a good idea to order something different. i'm sure you could pull it off though. i wish i had recipes/tips for you but the extent of my egg making is either scrambled or sunny side up. sad. :)

  5. Glenn's sister always makes Eggs Benedict when we stay with her and Glenn loves it as I never make it. You said the magic words with Thrift Store, get anything good?

  6. I love the look of the Thrift Store. I love that you say legit. My oldest son has started saying that and it cracks me up. He says, "what mom, come on it's just a word." And I'm thinking, "I know but when you say it it's so funny!!!" I tease him and say, "what exactly does legit mean?" He roles his eyes. I'm going to show him this post so he can see that you being the lovely girl you are says "legit!!!!" It's awesome. :)

  9. We have the same rule when we go out for brunch cause there's really no point in ordering things you can make. That Alaskan Benedict looks positively delish! You're such a great cook, I bet you could pull it off at home Helen!

  14. I'm not a fan of runny eggs, but I love the idea of poached eggs! Especially when combined with smoked fish or crab cakes......it sounds soooooo yummy. Apparently the key is to use vinegar and make a little circle in the water into which you drop the egg so that it doesn't run all over the place. I'm sure it takes lots of practice!

Many people who have smoked weed have already experienced these negative effects.
Most people are happy with this heater because it can actually heat up more than one room.

  18. Oh, I have never seen an Alaskan eggs benedict. Very cool. But yes, looks a little daunting for the home kitch (at least for me). I'm sure you could do it, though. Give it a go!

  19. Oh my goodness! i am lucky if I scramble my eggs without burning them! I suppose that is why we eat out too much or usually stick to cereal. Love brunch dates! And for some odd reason eggs and steak sounds pretty heavenly right now.
