Letters to Reverie: 3 months
My dear Reverie Hope,
You are no longer a newborn, and I've never been more wistful. I've been squeezing you tight and planting kisses aplenty upon you this month in an effort to bottle up all your precious newbornness. The way you break out into the hugest gummy grin whenever I catch your eye, twisting your head from side to side and kicking your legs from sheer joy. You reserve the biggest smiles for your mama, daddy, and siblings. You began laughing this month - a gurgly, effervescent giggle that is an overflow of your smiley spurts.
When you're not smiling, you are jamming your fists into your mouth and sucking on your fingers. You nurse every 2-3 hours during the day, and will wake up anywhere between 2-4 times a night to feed. You nurse efficiently, usually about 10-15 minutes and longer right before your 4-6 hour stretch of sleep at night. You fall asleep right after nursing at night, and you have been crying it out for naps during the day the past couple of weeks. The way you stretch your little body with your legs curled in froggy position once you wake up kills me. It has been so helpful not to have to wear you for naps anymore. However, I'll plop you in a wrap or sling anyway for you are most content that way, snuggled up against me with your little fists against my chest or by your mouth. You enjoy observing life around you with wide-eyed curiosity, whether you're being held, laying on the floor, or getting your diaper changed. You inch backwards by kicking your feet against the floor. Your head is getting steadier as you practice tummy time.
You wear 0-3 month clothing, size 0 shoes, and just transitioned to size 2 diapers. You have the biggest diaper blowouts almost daily, which are hilarious because you often sneeze or burp while pooping: a multitasker from the very beginning. All in all, we are head over heels in love with you. We are convinced you are the sweetest little babe. We are so honored you are our littlest love.
Love you so,
Mama
P.S. Reverie at 0, 1, and 2 months. Plus, her birth story.
