Letters to Reverie: 6 months

Reverie Hope at 6 months
My dear Reverie Hope,

I can't believe you're six months today. A half year old. I confess I get pretty wistful to observe you get bigger. Because you're the baby of the family, I'm holding onto your babyhood as much as possible. You are loving your new milestones though. This past month when you turned five months, we transitioned you to the kids' room with your big brother and sister. You responded with sleeping through the night, as in 8-10 hours straight each night. We're flabbergasted and incredibly thankful it worked out so well, so quickly. Your siblings slept longer once we put them in the kids' room, but you were quickest at sleeping the longest. Your thumb-sucking to self-soothe definitely helped with that.

You still nurse every 2-3 hours during the day, and are adamantly against the bottle. The times you're offered the bottle, you refuse until I return home. When you do nurse, you get distracted easily, grabbing onto anything in sight. During your periods of play, you reach for everything around you, discovering it by taste. Your feet are your favorite objects to grab and taste. Earlier on in the month, your primary mode of transportation was rolling around by flipping yourself adeptly from back to tummy and back again. The week before you turned six months, that evolved into army crawling. You use your legs and feet to scoot along on your tummy to reach for that elusive toy. You are such a content baby, happy to observe your family from your tummy, grinning and cooing whenever we pay you attention. You're a fan of spending time out, quietly observing the world and others from the safety of the wrap or sling. We love bringing you out and about.

Edit: At 6 months 1 week, you are 14 lbs 14 oz and 25" long. You wear 3 and 6 month clothing, size 2 diapers, and size 1 shoes. We enjoy you so much, sweet Reverie baby. If only you didn't have to grow up. We can't get enough of you.

Love you so,
Mama

P.S. Reverie at 012, 34, and 5 months. Plus, her birth story.
