Letters to Reverie: 9 months

reverie hope at 9 months
My dear Reverie Hope,

Our littlest. Somehow, I think you're the littlest at this age compared to your brother and sister. You're mostly in 3-6 month clothing, some 6-12 month clothing, size 2 diapers, and size 1/2 shoes. I love it because maybe that means you'll stay the baby longer. You love to cuddle and rest your head on my shoulder as you suck your right thumb. You feel safe in a wrap as you stare at the world around you. But there are totally indications of your older babyhood. You're nursing less during the day because you have a love affair with food. You love everything - scrambled eggs with spinach, yams, cucumbers, bone broth with veggies, bananas, broccoli, carrots, oatmeal, and more. You shovel food into your mouth so quickly you don't make time to chew. You growl when we don't put food in front of you fast enough. You crawl so speedily I have to run to catch you if you get yourself into a doozy. You pull up onto your knees and a few times onto your feet. You're a dreamy sleeper, sleeping 10-12 hours at night, especially now that you have your own room.

When you're awake, you're a socialite. You love being around others, especially your siblings. You grin and giggle gleefully in their presence. You adore one another, of which I am so grateful. You squeal and wave your hands to get our attention. When we walk away, you wail and crawl towards us pitifully. You also kick your legs happily whenever you're about to take a bath, which started happening in the big tub with your siblings this month. Other things you enjoy include singing at church while the congregation sings. You're so cute we can't handle you. Please don't grow up.

Love you so,
Mama

P.S. Reverie at 012, 34567, and 8 months. Plus, her birth story.
