Heart Day 2022













Eating ice cream, reading heart notes of affirmation to our little loves for our annual Hong Heart Day, and being reminded that God defines, exemplifies, and gives love. Nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord (Rom 8:39). I love their little smiles. What a great opportunity to encourage the ones we love on Valentine's Day!

Christmas 2021 scenes


















Just some stills from our Christmas morning - We commenced with family worship, singing "Hark the Herald Angels Sing" and "O Come All Ye Faithful" to Alex's accompaniment. We each shared why we thank the Lord for Christmas and one another. Alex read Luke 2 from the ESV Big Picture Bible while I read Luke 2 from Child's Story Bible. We recited Matthew 1:21, our memory verse for Advent this year, and ended with prayer. Serene and Valor treated us all to a lovely Christmas piano recital, for which they had been preparing the past few weeks. Then we opened gifts, right in time for Candor to join us on his first Christmas. I had to capture him in his Christmas pajamas, the same one Valor donned on his first Christmas. It was a happy, warm, slow morning savoring the gift of Christ, one another, and undeserved grace.

Come with me and you’ll be in a world of pure imagination. Take a look and you’ll see the candyman Willy Wonka, his favorite Oompa Loompa, and the five winners of the Golden Tickets: Charlie Bucket, Violet Beauregarde, Mike Teavee, Veruca Salt, and Augustina Gloop. The two older kids read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory last year. We watched the movie as a family a while ago and thought it would be fun to dress up as the cast, especially because there are five kids who win a visit to Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. 

It was a doozy trying to put everyone's costumes together. Nearly everything was thrifted, DIYed, or something we already had in the closet. My goal this year was for each kid to have a prop that represents their character. Not sure how much longer we can keep up an annual family costume, but thankful we did so this year for Candor's first Halloween! He made the perfect Mike Teavee when he shrunk into the television.

Heart Day 2021
















We had our annual Heart Day celebration spent eating sweet treats and reading aloud notes of affirmation with words that build one another up. I love these smiles! Alex and I also took each kid out for one-on-one dates last week for the first time in hopes of fostering heart connections. Those were such sweet times. Looking forward to making intentional quality time with each kid a regular routine as they grow.
